LAURA ANDERSON

Laura Anderson is an independent Company Director and management advisor.

Educated in the United States, Laura holds a Bachelors Degree from Southern Methodist University with concentrations in English and Applied Mathematics. She has also undertaken advanced professional studies in Strategic Planning, Financial Management, Applied Technologies and Enterprise Logistics. She is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Transport.

Laura is a frequent speaker and adviser to business groups, professional societies, government and academia including Melbourne Business School’s Executive Development Program.

She was the National Partner in Charge of Strategy and Development for KPMG Australia from 2001–2004 and was the founding Partner of KPMG Australia’s Risk and Advisory Services for Industry Practice. Laura is a Non-Executive Director of the Just Group where she has served on the Audit and Risk Committee and the Remuneration and Nomination Committee. Laura is on the Board of the Australian Grand Prix Corporation and serves on the Audit and Risk Committee and the Remuneration Committee. She is also on the National Board of the Starlight Children’s Foundation and is the Chairman/President of the Victorian Advisory Board. Laura is a Director of Eastern Health and serves on the Audit and Risk Committee and the Quality Committee. She is a Governor and was previously a member of the Victorian Board of the American Chamber of Commerce. Laura is a selected member of Women Chiefs of Enterprises International (WCEI) and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and the National Association of Corporate Directors in Washington D.C. She is a director of several private investment companies.

She is an active member of many professional associations including the international Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP/CLM) where she served as the founding President of the Australasian Roundtable from 2000-2003 and the Chartered Institute of Transport serving in the role of Chairman of the Victorian Section for two years from 1997-1999. She was an inaugural member of Australia’s National Industry Council. She was a key adviser on Industry and Strategy to the Australian Department of Defence 1993-2004. Laura was also a principal adviser on industry structure, enabling technologies and supply chains to the US National Defense University Industrial College of the Armed Forces (ICAF) in Washington DC 2001 - 2004.

Laura has worked extensively in the United States, Europe and Asia. She has received many awards for her contributions to the transport, manufacturing, defence, and high technology industries. She has earned an international reputation for her innovative contributions in the areas of scenario analysis, strategic planning, risk management and capability development.

Laura’s advisory clients have included Motorola, Texas Instruments, Johnson and Johnson, Hewlett Packard, United Laboratories, Coca-Cola, 3M, NEC, AT&T, American Airlines, Apple Computer, Dell Computer, Sara Lee, General Electric, US Postal Service, Coles Myer, Mayne Nickless, Volvo, National Rail, WMC, The U.S. Department of Defence, The Australian Defence Forces, The Royal Australian Air Force, The Australian Government, The Victorian Government, Carlton & United Breweries (Fosters), Pacific Dunlop, Woolworths, Normandy Mining and Australia Post - where she focussed on leveraging the human asset to maximise sustainable performance.

Laura is also a discerning entrepreneur, a busy wife and mother and takes a great interest in photography and the arts. She enjoys spending her spare time travelling, playing tennis and relaxing with family and friends at her farm at Cape Schanck, Victoria, Australia.
