MARK COLEMAN FAICD

Precis

Following holding the position of CFO at a major government business enterprise, in 1990 Mark established his own independent consulting business, with clients in private, public and non-for-profit sectors. Services include financial and organisational strategy, investment policy reviews, financial evaluations, and financial management development programs.

Mark has taught corporate finance since 1993 in the MBA program of the Adelaide Graduate Business School of the University of Adelaide, was an academic member of staff in the period 2003 – 2005, and remains an adjunct lecturer. He regularly teaches in Adelaide, Asia and Europe.

In addition, Mark specialises in undertaking board and governance reviews, and has consulted widely in this area. He speaks at professional conferences and seminars on these topics, and has presented the ‘Improving Board Effectiveness’ module of the Company Directors Course and other AICD programs since 1994, and has also presented and written other governance training and development courses. These various involvements focus on assisting directors and other members of governing bodies better understand their roles and functions, assess their performance, and identify strategies to improve the operations of their governing bodies.

Mark has also had extensive experience as a practicing company director and fiduciary office holder more generally since 1990. He has held board positions in the following sectors – finance, investment, transport, energy, arts, tourism, wine, aged care, medical services, technology, and education. He has been chairperson of several of these organisations, and has chaired a number of board committees.
