John Downie joined the Gladstone Pacific Nickel Ltd in early 2007 as CEO and is a Mechanical Engineer with over 30 years experience in the mining industry. He has held senior management positions with various companies including Alcoa, NMR Rothschild, Boral and CRA. Most recently he was the Director of Mining at Vale/Inco's Goro Mine in New Caledonia. In this role he was responsible for regional exploration, mining operations, environmental and rehabilitation, beneficiation of the ore and residue management.
