Precis
Since October, 2002, Ray has been an independent consultant working in the area of research and strategy formulation; executive coaching; and leadership development. From May 1998 until October 2002, he was the Executive Director of the Nolan Norton Institute, the internal research and thought leadership organisation of KPMG Consulting (now known as BearingPoint). During his time with KPMG Consulting, he also carried out a range of significant consulting projects, many of which involved reviews of corporate governance for both private and public sector organisations of considerable size. He is a forester by profession, and spent ten years working in regional areas of South Australia for the former SA Woods & Forests Department in a variety of roles from resource planning to sawmill management. For the twelve years prior to joining KPMG Consulting, Ray held the position of Chief Executive of four different South Australian Government agencies – State Services, Government Agencies Review Group (GARG), Primary Industries, and Information Technology Services. In each case, he was specifically asked by the Government of the day to take on the role to achieve substantial change and significant reform of the organisation concerned, and the public sector generally.
