Precis
Terry Davis joined the publicly listed and Top 50 Company, Coca-Cola Amatil (CCA), as group managing director in November, 2001. In the first five years under Mr Davis’ leadership, CCA doubled its growth rates, delivering nine consecutive half years of double-digit earnings growth while also doubling dividends paid to shareholders with return on capital increasing from 7 percent to 17.5 percent. Market capitalisation of CCA has grown from $3.5bn to approximately $7bn during that time. Under Mr Davis’ leadership, CCA has rapidly developed into a broader based beverage and food company.
Mr Davis is a member of the Council of the University of NSW, is a director of the board of St George Bank and chairman of its Remuneration Committee and on the Beijing Olympics Fundraising Committee.
From 1987 to 1997 he was managing director of Cellarmaster Wines which grew from a very small base to become the largest direct marketer of wine in the world. In 1997 he returned to the corporate world becoming managing director of the Fosters’ owned Beringer Blass Wines in 1998, which became, under his leadership, the largest (by profit) table wine company in the world.
