BRENT MCINNES
Chief Research Scientist, CSIRO Exploration & Mining
Brent McInnes is a Chief Research Scientist at CSIRO Exploration & Mining and a Senior Fellow at Curtin University in Western Australia. Educated in Canada and trained at the California Institute of Technology, he has 26 years of international experience in the resources domain. He is the author of almost 100 technical articles, including publications in the prestigious journals Nature and Science.
A Fellow and former VP Australasia of the Society of Economic Geologists, he has received multiple awards for discovery, innovation and entrepreneurship. An explorer, inventor and technologist he has led multiple public-private partnership projects with multinational companies including Barrick, Rio Tinto, BHP-Billiton and INCO.
As the 2007 Australian-American Fulbright Professional (Business/Industry) Fellow, he worked at NASA developing the next generation of robotic/analytical geochemical platforms for terrestrial and planetary exploration. His strengths include capability building through technological innovation and strategic positioning for growth in the context of global trends in the metals and energy commodity sectors.
