The Not-for-Profit Chairman: Scholarships

Chairmen of charitable not-for-profit organisations are invited to apply for a scholarship to attend our Not-For-Profit Chairman course.

Held around the country in February 2012, the Australian Scholarships Foundation will award more than 75 places (worth over $1020 each) to chairmen of charitable organisations.

The Perpetual Foundation has funded the scholarships together with the JS Love Trust and is dedicated to building capacity, leadership and governance in the not-for-profit sector.

About the course

The Not-For-Profit Chairman course is being delivered for chairmen of not-for-profit organisations looking to fine-tune their leadership and governance skills. It also provides an in-depth analysis of the chairman’s accountabilities and relationships with other board members and the CEO. This is a rare opportunity to discuss common issues such as board selection, board processes, communication, CEO succession planning and the unique challenges facing NFP boards, with fellow chairmen.

The programs will be facilitated by Henry Bosch AO, former chairman of the National Companies and Securities Commission, chairman of the Working Group on Corporate Practices and Conduct, and chairman of the committee which produced the Australian Standard on corporate governance. Henry brings his expertise and experience having served as chairman or director on more than thirty boards in both the public and private sectors.

The courses will be held over one day (six hours duration) in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane in February 2012. The course will include a working lunch and the opportunity to discuss issues and network with other NFP chairmen.
