Developing mastery in directorship

Mastering the Boardroom is an interactive three-day experiential residential program designed for experienced practising directors. The program examines thoughts, assumptions and current practices with the aim of moving your director performance to new levels.

In a safe and well supported learning environment you will develop your skills in: sound decision making and making judgements in crisis situations, with opportunities to network with peers, discuss issues with leading directors and present to shareholders and stakeholders.

With only up to ten people in each of the three individually facilitated boards, the board sessions review company strategy and performance, the challenges of the external environment and board performance. Additional topical seminar sessions include presentations to frame the issues for today’s company directors.

Who should attend?

Directors, chairmen and managing directors of public, private, not-for-profit and government organisations. Participants must have completed the Company Directors Course in order to enrol in this program or have at least 5+ years experience as a director.

How will I benefit?

Upon completion of this program you will benefit from having your strategic skills sharpened and knowledge refreshed. You’ll also be able to:

  • examine ways of improving board performance
  • explore good practices for board and management relationships
  • apply knowledge to develop insights into effective directorship
  • identify issues and solutions to possible board problem areas
  • provide the opportunity to discuss director issues with peers
  • identify your directorship strengths and areas for development.

What others have said about the Mastering the Boardroom Program

“You clearly indicated the learning would continue after the workshop and that is certainly proving so with me.”

“Thank you for an excellent program. It took me well outside my comfort zone and gave me exactly the motivation I was seeking to modify some of my views and practices as a director.”

“Added expertise, let me consolidate some existing thoughts, allowed trialling a few behaviours, potentially added to network, and allowed doing an assignment that is reusable for future board assessments. All in all, a good addition to the skill set.”
