The contribution of NFP directors

Directors make a significant contribution to Australian society and the economy through their deep involvement in:

  • Charities
  • Community service organisations
  • Other not-for-profit (NFP) boards

We conduct Australia's only study examining the governance of the not-for-profit (NFP) sector and the contribution made by its directors.

The Directors Social Impact Study 2012 reveals that on average non-executive directors of NFP organisations spend the equivalent of seven working weeks a year on their role as a director, with 85 per cent of these directors fulfilling this role on a voluntary basis.
