AICD WA Division submission on State and Territory Business Transaction Taxes
- Date:29 Sep 2005
- Type:Policy & Advocacy: Submission
The AICD has worked together with the BCTR to provide a formal submission December 2004. The AICD believes that the best taxation system for sustained long term economic growth requires that all levels of taxation in Australia are working efficiently and facilitating Australia's international competitiveness. We support a recent BCTR survey and reiterate that the removal of state taxes is a quid pro quo for the introduction and passing on the states the proceeds from the GST. The BCTR submits that the Commonwealth, the States and the Territories should enter a new Agreement that maintains the objective of improving State and Territory taxation by removing those taxes listed in the Intergovernmental Agreement of 1999 that are still in force.
