Submission on Consultation Paper "Review of not-for-profit governance arrangements"
- Date:27 Jan 2012
- Type:Policy Submission
This
submission is in response to the
Consultation Paper “Review of not-for-profit governance arrangements”, released by the Federal Government on 8 December 2011.
Our submission began by outlining a number of concerns with the consultation, including the continued practice of Federal Treasury and the Federal Government to have short consultation periods over the Christmas and January holiday season, and the need for more holistic and developed NFP reform proposals.
Feedback provided by Company Directors included that the duties of directors under the proposed NFP regime should be based on the current requirements in the Corporations Act 2001 relating to companies limited by guarantee, and that further work was needed to identify instances of red tape reduction. We continued to advocate against a mandated approach to corporate governance practices of NFPs.
