As with most aspects of modern business OH&S is continuing to evolve and develop, therefore owner/directors must keep abreast of these laws as they continue to develop. In particular the last few months has seen significant changes taking place within the OH&S legislative framework within the ACT. These changes will have an effect on every private sector business operating within the ACT, apart from those few covered by the Commonwealth legislation.
The new regulations introduced in May 2008 cover a wide range of topics never before covered in regulations within the ACT - some are very prescriptive in nature whilst others are outcome or performance types which allow for some flexibility. This in effect, means director/owners are responsible for ensuring that their companies comply with OH&S, especially if they are “… in a position to influence the conduct of the corporation…”. Given the scope of these obligations, the AICD is hosting an informative briefing session for business director/owners (and directors in general) that will discuss this topic in more detail. The session will include opportunities for question and includes a drinks and networking session following the briefing. The session will cover issues such as:* Where do regulations sit within the broader OHS legislative framework* What is the extent of these new regulations and how do they relate to my business* What is the likely impact of these new regulations* What affect do these new regulations have on existing regulationsSpeaker: Steven Hart (OHS Consulting Service)Read further information on this event below the booking information.
