Directors' Sentiment Index: Overview

The Director Sentiment Index is a bi-annual survey of directors’ views on business conditions and key regulatory, governance and public policy issues.

Every six months, a report on the survey results will be available to our members, the media, regulators and government. It will provide valuable and timely information on:

  • Health of the economy — the current and future state of Australian and world economies.
  • Outlook for jobs — economic issues impacting on jobs.
  • Investment and business conditions — a detailed report of key business conditions.
  • Issues for the business community — infrastructure, regulation, director liability and corporate governance.

Background and purpose

The Director Sentiment Index is the only survey in Australia that chronicles directors’ views. As it matures over time, the Index will be increasingly valuable as an influencer of economics, public-policy reform and corporate governance.

The Index was conceived by the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and produced in conjunction with Burdis Marsh Partners.
