US$4 BILLION GLADSTONE NICKEL REFINERY
What it means for Queensland

Gladstone Pacific Nickel Limited (GPNL) is a dynamic publicly-listed, Australian mining development company, which is establishing a US$4 billion long-life, nickel and cobalt refinery at the Gladstone State Development Area (GSDA).

The Project has the potential to be one of the largest of its type in the world whilst maintaining world's best practice for environmental standards and minimising the area of impact from the operations.

Stage 1 of the project will employ 530 full time people and contribute about $520 million per year into the region.

GPNL is planning to build the refinery at the deepwater Port of Gladstone, treating high-grade nickel laterite ores from New Caledonia and other south-west Pacific Islands, underpinned by beneficiated ores from its own Marlborough deposits.
