We were delighted to meet our new members and catch up with our existing members at the Australian Institute of Company Directors member cocktail party.

Over 150 members and guests enjoying an evening of networking, while celebrating the successes of the Company Directors Course award recipients. Formalities for the evening were kept to a minimum, whilst Bruce Linn FAICD assisted Sir Eric Neal AC CVO FAICD (Life) in presenting the Company Directors Course graduates with their awards.

Leaders' Edge Lunch: Reforming the not-for-profit sector

Over 350 members and guests attended the Leaders' Edge Lunch on 15 March which focused on the implementation of a new statutory authority- the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission. Operations are due to commence in the second half of 2012, to become a national regulator for the not-for-profit sector.

Speakers included; David Locke (Executive Director of Charity Services), Anne Skipper AM FAICD and Dr Lynn Arnold AO MAICD (Chief Executive of Anglicare SA).

Directorship of the Future Summit 2020

Over 120 members and guests attended the Australian Institute of Company Directors inaugural Directorship of the Future Summit 2020.

Topics and issues included; the future of electronic board papers, board diversity (gender, age, disabilities), how do you up-skill directors on your board, opportunities for emerging directors and how to position yourself, preparing your ‘elevator speech’, leadership in the boardroom, board evaluations, due diligence, what ASIC expects of company directors and the list goes on.

High profile speakers at the event included: James MacKenzie FAICD, Carolyn Hewson AO FAICD, Kevin Osborn FAICD, Steve Vamos GAICD, Tony Featherstone, Alison Gaines FAICD, Peter Emmerton FAICD, Mark Bielecki FAICD and Tim Jarvis AM.

Directors Briefing: Cloud computing
