An evaluation process for boards and for individual directors was only valuable for the benefits that it delivered corporations as a whole, Mr John Ralph said at the launch of a new book on the topic Evaluating Board Performance – A Guide for Company Directors published by the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
“Evaluation is a means to an end,” warned Mr Ralph, chairman of the AICD’s corporate governance committee. “The most valuable part of the process is in looking for opportunities to improve the performance of the board and what it does – in other words, the corporate governance of the entire corporation.”
