Policy and Advocacy

As a member you can contribute to many policies and submissions we regularly make to government and regulatory bodies on behalf of our members.

Members are canvassed on topics such as the environment, corporate governance, law, accounting, environment and taxation to identify issues and trends relevant to them.

AICD is involved in the following areas:

The Company Director Journal

Your regular copy of Company Director journal will make keeping up to date with directorship issues that much easier.

Produced by AICD for AICD members, the Company Director journal provides information on the latest Australian and global trends affecting director performance, including coverage of emerging trends, interviews with successful directors and articles on a wide range of subjects from finance to biotechnology.

Regular sections Law Reporter, Early Warner and DirectNews will provide you with summaries of recent court decisions, legislation, policy and other news. AICD Review will keep you informed of what's happening within AICD.

Events

Each year you will receive an invitation to the Company Directors Conference, the premier directors' event of the year.

Addressing current business issues and presenting cutting-edge ideas and trends, the Company Directors Conference provides a thought-provoking and challenging director's annual event.

Accompanying the formal conference program is a well-established social program allowing delegates to network with contacts made throughout the day and establish new business links. Partners of delegates are welcome and take part in an interesting and enjoyable partner program.

Education

Whether you are a seasoned director or you are just starting out, you can improve your knowledge and skills in business by attending AICD education and professional development programs. AICD has programs available for people with all levels of experience.

As a member you will have access to AICD's flagship course, the Company Directors Course (CDC), which is recognised by leading Australian universities. View Courses by Type.

Members with the status of Fellow (FAICD) are required to complete at least 10 hours of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) each year, in units approved by AICD National Council. Attending AICD education and professional development activities is one way to achieve this.

Publications

As a member you will receive a complimentary copy of Duties and Responsibilities of Directors and Officers and the Code of Conduct.

These two important publications will help you to ensure you are fully aware of your obligations as a director under common law and provide you with guidance standards for directors.

Directors Register

The Directors Register is an on-line service offered to AICD members to help them find new board positions. Once you are registered and completed your profile, your details will be made available to companies, members and search firms who are seeking board members. If you are looking for the right director for your board, request a search of the Directors Register for potential candidates.
