At the Company Directors Conference in May, delegates were asked to say what they liked about the conference, and what they thought we could improve upon in future conferences.

Delegates were almost unanimous in their praise for the outstanding international and national speakers, the challenging nature of the topics and the broad issues covered. They told us that they liked to hear real life business stories, and so wanted more business case studies and the provision for formal networking. So that's what we've introduced for the Company Directors Conference 2002, to be held from 15-18 May 2002 at the Sheraton Mirage Gold Coast and Palazzo Versace. Delegates can choose one of seven corporate case studies or roundtables on a variety of relevant topics. The case studies include how an organisation moved a traditional business to e-business, an Australian biotech success story, how a company managed through a product extortion attempt, and board strategies for coping with the future.

The roundtables focus on the challenges for Not for Profit boards, how to manage your best asset – people, and strategy skills. Full details of all seven choices are on our website. Formal networking lunches have been arranged for Friday 16 May to assist delegates in broadening their own business networks. Each of the lunches will be limited to 40 delegates to facilitate informal discussion and easy circulation, and will be held on the rooftop terraces of the Sheraton Mirage and Palazzo Versace. One conference tradition delegates always favour is that of the gala dinner prize draw. Each year we come up with an outstanding major prize, and this year is no exception. Chiva-Som International Health Resort is a unique health resort set in seven acres of beachside gardens near the King's summer palace in Thailand. Thanks to Chiva-Som International Health Resort, one lucky delegate will win a seven-night "Stress Management" package for two at the resort, which was recently voted "World's Best Destination Spa 2000" by readers of Conde Nast Traveller (UK).

The package includes seven nights in an ocean view room, daily massages, an individual beauty, health and fitness consultation and participation in many other relaxing, fitness and leisure activity program. The draw is open to all delegates and guests attending the dinner. On-line registrations are now open via www.companydirectors.com.au/conference. You can either register via a secure e-commerce facility or download forms to fill out and return.

    The earlybird gets the wine

Register by 29 March 2002 and not only will you get the special earlybird price – you'll also be entered into the draw to win three bottles of the award winning Penfolds Bin 707 Cabernet Sauvignon 1996.
