As a rare privilege, the Great Hall at New Parliament House in Canberra will be the venue for the Company Directors Conference 2003 from May 14-16.

Canberra also boasts a number of other unique venues, many of which will be used for other sessions and activities, including Royal Military College Duntroon, the Australian Institute of Sport, the Australian War Memorial and the Australian National Gallery.

The conference's main theme – the Alchemy of Change – revolves around the ongoing process of change, how it affects our businesses and how it affects our culture. Some of the topics include:

• Does transnational terrorism signal the end – or the triumph – of global integration?

• Will the rapid advance in neuroscience threaten privacy and kill autonomy, and what impact will it have on society, human nature and business?

• What are the questions posed by cross border activity of growing Australian companies?

• What were the key factors contributing to the recent downfall of some major corporations?

Last year one of the most popular sessions was Geoffrey Robertson's hypothetical. We're extremely pleased to advise that Dr Robertson has agreed (subject to his court appearances) to conduct another hypothetical session at the Alchemy of Change. As the AICD has already received many inquiries from members wishing to register for the conference, we are endeavouring to have a preliminary website containing the program, registration forms and accommodation details available very shortly.

If you have any questions about the conference, please either telephone Anita Sawa on (02) 8248 6600 or e-mail asawa@companydirectors.com.au
