Participants on the Company Directors Course to be held in May at Sanctuary Cove and the International Company Directors Course in Perth in July are in for a special treat.

May participants will be provided with the opportunity of meeting Dr Richard Leblanc and hearing his sometimes controversial views on improving board performance.

Leblanc is an academic and consultant based in Canada. He is co-author of Inside the Boardroom: How boards really work and the coming revolution in corporate governance, a book which Patricia Cross (director, Qantas and Wesfarmers) has described as a remarkable incursion into the inner sanctum of the boardroom.  He is renowned for his strong views, animated style and “take no prisoners” approach to the issue of boardroom behaviour.

Previously a guest on the International Company Directors Course, participants have variously described Leblanc as “passionate”, “a terrific speaker”, “challenging” and “hugely energetic”.

While the International Company Directors Course offers participants a number of guest speakers throughout the program, Andrew Kakabadse, Professor of International Management Development at Cranfield School of Management UK is a favourite. In July he will be sharing the results of his yet-to-be-published research on international boards.

Kakabadse has published 26 books, over 170 articles and a number of monographs. With titles such as Intimacy: an international survey of the sex lives of people at work, Kakabadse’s research goes where other researchers hardly dare.

With comments like “I’ve never thought of research as entertaining before”, “very down to earth” and “thought-provoking”,  a chance to hear Kakabadse is just one of the reasons for joining this program.

All CDC Residential programs include at least one guest speaker.  Future guests include Daryl Somerville, Chairman of the Brisbane Broncos (August) and Patricia Cross, director on the Qantas and Wesfarmers boards (October)
